Why Vinyl Plank

The right floor for most
Westlake homes right now.

LVP has earned its position as the most-installed residential floor in the country. It's not a trend — it's a material that genuinely outperforms older options for the way most families actually live.

Genuinely Waterproof

The plank core is 100% plastic — water cannot penetrate it. Appropriate for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and anywhere moisture accidents happen. Not "water resistant" with fine-print exceptions — actually waterproof.

Pets and Kids

LVP handles the traffic, the accidents, and the claws better than hardwood or carpet. For large-dog households specifically, we also carry RevWood — a premium laminate with scratch resistance LVP can't quite match.

Goes Over (Almost) Any Subfloor

LVP floats over concrete, over existing vinyl, over plywood — as long as the surface is flat and dry. Often eliminates the demo step in kitchens and bathrooms where the subfloor is solid and level.

Fast Installation

An average living area or kitchen is done in one day. Whole-house installs take two to three days. No acclimation window like hardwood. No curing time. You're walking on the floor the same day we finish.

What's Included

The complete job.
Not just the installation.

Most LVP quotes cover materials and installation only. We price the full scope — everything that actually needs to happen for you to have a finished floor.

01

Demo & Haul Away

We pull up the old floor and take it with us. No dumpster rental, no debris pile, no figuring out what to do with 800 square feet of old carpet or vinyl.

02

Furniture Moving

We move everything out before we start and put it back when the floor is done. You don't need to empty the room yourself or stage furniture in your garage during a two-day install.

03

Subfloor Prep & Leveling

LVP is unforgiving of subfloor imperfections — humps and dips telegraph through to the surface. We assess and address the subfloor as part of every quote, not as a surprise charge on installation day.

04

Installation to Manufacturer Spec

Correct expansion gaps, proper underlayment, undercutting door casings so the floor slides under cleanly — the details that separate a professional installation from one that looks fine today and has problems in two years.

05

Transitions & Trim

Every doorway, every junction between rooms, every edge at a stair or vertical surface — planned before installation starts and finished cleanly when we leave. No exposed edges. No improvised transitions figured out at the end.

Common Questions

What Westlake homeowners ask about LVP.

Is LVP really waterproof — or just water resistant?
The plank itself is genuinely waterproof — the core is plastic and water cannot penetrate it. What "waterproof" doesn't cover: water that gets under the floor through gaps at transitions or a wet subfloor can still cause problems. The plank is waterproof. The installation system is not invincible. We make sure transitions are tight and the subfloor is dry before anything goes down.
We have a large dog. Is LVP a good choice?
LVP is good for most dogs — the waterproof core handles accidents cleanly. For very large dogs or breeds that are hard on floors, premium laminate (RevWood and similar) offers significantly better scratch resistance than standard LVP. The surface is harder and holds up better against nail dragging. We carry both and will show you the difference during the sample visit.
Can LVP go over my existing floor?
Sometimes. LVP can float over existing vinyl or low-profile tile if the surface is flat, firmly adhered, and dry. The issue is height — going over an existing floor raises the finished surface, which affects door clearances and transitions to adjacent spaces. We assess during the quote visit and give you an honest recommendation on whether demo or overlay makes more sense for your specific situation.
How long does LVP installation take?
An average kitchen or living area is typically done in one day including demo and installation. Whole-house installs run two to three days depending on square footage and room count. We give you a firm day count when we quote — not a range that shifts as the project progresses.
In Westlake Specifically

Westlake's ranches and colonials near Bradley Road share a recurring flooring story: contractor-grade laminate in the main living areas and early vinyl in the kitchens, both past their useful life. Bubbling, seam cracking, and surface fading are the typical complaint. LVP is the right replacement, but the subfloor matters here — some Westlake neighborhoods show more settling variation than newer builds, and some homes need leveling before LVP can go down to manufacturer spec. We assess the subfloor on the quote visit before we commit to scope.
